What is Uttara Vasti?

Uttara Vasti is among the best Panchakarma treatments. This treatment includes the use of liquid medicines that are administered through the urethral or vaginal routes. This means that Uttara Vasti therapy is dedicated to treating urinary and genital system and diseases. In simple terms, it is also known as douche and is performed after the menstrual cycle in a female patient when the genital tract is receptive to the medicated formulation. This therapy is highly suitable for bladder disorders, uterine disorders, menorrhagia, dysmenorrhoea, primary infertility, etc. The treatment is done for 7 days or as per the condition of the patient.

In this treatment, medicines may be used in forms of Kwatha/Kashaya. As the name suggests, it is a type of enema that is given to both male and female patients through the urinary passage. There are two kinds of Uttara Vasti like Garbhashaya gati vasti and mutrashaya gati vasti and each has its way of treatment and benefits. The appropriate time for the treatment is 7 to 8 in the morning and evening.
