Abhyanga Therapy in Delhi
Abhyanga is one of the massages of body done with the help of dosha specific warm herb infused oils. This is an Ayurvedic medicine and is also a part of the steps involved in panchkarma. Normally, the oil is pre-mixed with herbs according to the body condition of the patients. It is a part of dinacharya specified by the Brhat Trayi and Lagutrayi series of Ayurvedic textbooks to maintain good health and well-being. Abhyanga helps in joint health, nourishes dhatus and brings aggravated doshas back to its balance. It also improves the condition of dry, coarse hair and flaky skin. Abhyanga can be done separately or it can also be done along with the steps of Panchkarma therapy. Mostly, it will be followed by Svedana therapy or a warm bath. It can be performed along with other therapies or can be done alone also. Oils used will vary according to the season and the body condition of the patient.
Abhyanga Therapy is suitable for diseases
Brhtatrayi and laghutrayi texts have information on Abhyanga. According to them, it is vigorous and used to open up the minor Sortas, remove ama (toxins) through the skin, melt kleshma (fat secretion which is blocking the sortas) and cleanse and moisturise the skin. It can also be used for soothing Vata imbalance which will result in the relaxation of the body and will also give you peace of mind.
Our Procedure
Use warm massage oil comfortably which should be stored in a plastic flip-top and warm it by holding the container under running hot water for a few minutes. Take the oil and apply it gently on your entire body. Leave it like that for 4-5 minutes so that some of the oil be absorbed by your skin. You have to massage your whole body by using your whole hand by applying even pressure i.e. palm and fingers. When you massage your heart or abdomen, a light pressure should be applied. Use more oil especially on the nerve ending and spend more time on this. Your head and joints should be given circular motion massage and for arms and legs straight strokes should be given. Once you are done relax for 10-15 minutes. During that time, you can relax or rest or shave or cut nails and get ready for the day. The longer the oil is on your body, it penetrates to a larger extent. It should be followed by a warm bath or shower. If you cant do it daily then at least 3-4 times a week you should do it and you will feel the difference for yourself.
